Mt. Healthy City School District Food Pantry began an exciting new venture for families in September. In addition to a regular monthly food distribution, the pantry invited families to participate in preparing a family dinner together. In collaboration with The Freestore Foodbank and No Child Hungry, the MTHCSD Food Pantry put together specialty meal boxes, a recipe, and a video provided by the district’s very own Chef Brian Potter to assist families in prepping and cooking the meal together. The recipe this month is Mexican Taco Pie, and the video may be found on the district’s YouTube Channel under Mt. Healthy City Schools.
During the food distribution, 93 families picked up the meal boxes for the month. The boxes also contained non-perishable food staples such as cereal, apple sauce, and cans of tuna for the families. The Dinner at Home meals provide families with healthy meal options that they can prepare at home together.
