From Veterinarian to Violinist: Diverse Careers Showcased at Mt. Healthy North Elementary  Mt. Healthy North Elementary recently wrapped up Career Week with a memorable and engaging Career Day. The event brought together a diverse group of professionals to inspire and educate students about various career paths. The Career Day committee, led by staff members, played a crucial role in orchestrating this event. The Career Day committee, consisting of Mrs. Sterwerf, Mrs. Greenwell, Ms. Personke, Ms. Silver, and Ms. Christian, worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their planning and coordination were evident in every aspect of the event. Thank you to the many teachers and staff members who contributed in various capacities. Special thanks are owed to Mrs. Corbett, Mrs. Graves, Ms. Christian, Mrs. Uhl, Ms. Mills, Mr. Ken, Mr. Curtis, Mrs. Lahmer, Ms. Williams, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Gray, Mrs. Ferguson, Ms. Wodke, Mr. O, Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Munneke, Ms. Ellison, and Ms. Sarah.  A notable mention goes to Mr. Washington for assisting the guest speakers and to Mrs. Washington for creating career videos. Additionally, Mrs. Russell-Joash and Ms. Simmons played key roles by organizing the Be Beautiful volunteers and student council volunteers, respectively. The student ambassadors, in their red blazers, did an excellent job escorting guest speakers to their classrooms. Career Day featured an impressive lineup of professionals from various fields, providing students with a broad perspective on potential careers. The professions represented included: Veterinarian Caterer Football Player Sales Manager Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Marketing Professional Lawyer Barber Hip Hop Violinist Nurse Program Manager UPS Driver Radiologist Real Estate Agent Police Officer Firefighter Professional Baseball Player Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) Principal These professionals shared their experiences offering students a glimpse into the opportunities available in the workforce. To keep the excitement high throughout Career Week, several activities were organized. One of the highlights was Career Bingo, which kicked off with daily announcements. Each homeroom received a laminated bingo board, and career cards were drawn during morning announcements. Classes competed to mark off careers on their boards, with the promise of ice cream or frozen pops for the winning class. Additionally, a special staff video directed by Mrs. Washington and Ms. Christian was shown during morning announcements. This video featured staff members discussing their college journeys and the reasons behind their career choices, providing students with personal insights. Career Day at Mt. Healthy North Elementary was not just an event but a community effort. It showcased the dedication of the school staff and the willingness of local professionals to invest in the future of the students.
